The role of activism has been a keystone factor in much of the political and social change to happen within the past century. I wanted to investigate the role activism plays today, especially with the growing number of issues related to climate change. Aside from learning about how activism has played a role in changing our global community I also wanted to investigate the mentality of activists, and what drives certain people to dedicate their lives to a movement.

Through my series of moves I investigated the lives of certain environmental activists, the history of environmentalism, activism today, and my own personal experiences on the importance of environmental activism.

Much of my capstone research all seemed to end up revolving around the central idea of, "How much can one person do?" Through my investigation of various activists I was able to pick apart how much it truly takes to be the change you want to see in the world.

Pictured above is Julia Butterfly Hill. Hill is well-known for her protest of the logging of California Redwoods in the 80's. She protested this by living in a redwood for over 200 days in order to halt logging operations. Through my capstone project, I hoped to investigate why people, like Hill, would dedicate so much of their life to activism.
